Public vs Private space

I noticed this partially demolished building near Camberwell last week. It reminded me of a Gordon Matta-Clark building cut. The removal of the exterior wall on this block of flats has exposed the interior spaces to the public gaze. The sight of this building made me think about what is considered a private versus what is considered a public space. The exposed wallpaper in each of the different flats invokes the sedimentation of the former occupant's lives. It's quite disorientating to see these private details so publicly available.

Well, I like that open building! Guess, I am a Snooper! I think it is fun to see an open building and the leftover - Decor. I got to go to Dresden, DE. There are still bombed out buildings. Seeing how they repaired those buildings, seeing how they maintain the cobble streets, seeing the work on the broken walls, was fascinating. I will have to post some pictures of that time and sketches.

I hope you are loving you MA work. I hope to finish mine some day.
